Description: Loreto Day is celebrated all over the world on the 30 Jan every year. Loreto Convent School, Delhi began its celebrations with a special prayer service in the morning assembly. The ceremonial lamp was lit by the principal, Sr. Mercia, the coordinators and the Loreto Day team. The assembly highlighted that we are all like a city on a hill, and a candle that floods a darkened room with light. Therefore we need to lead as exemplary a life as Mother Mary Ward, our foundress. After the assembly, Sr Mercia addressed the school and urged the students to exude the values taught at Loreto at school and outside. Thereafter, various activities were held at the junior, middle and senior school.
At the senior school level, elocution was held for class 9 at the Activity Hall. This was attended by all the students of classes 9 and 10. The topic for the elocution was ‘ My vision of Loreto at 200 in 2041’. Three students from each section of Class 9 spoke on the topic and expressed their views quite eloquently. For Class 11, a canvas was provided on which the class created a depiction of their views on the topic ‘ One Billion Rising: No More Exploitation of Women and Nature. These activities received positive feedback and the expressed the desire to have more activities that improve the students’ expression and stimulate their thinking.
