PRAYER FOR OUR NATION: 14 AUG 2019
The LTS of organized a special prayer service on the occasion of India's celebration of 72 years of freedom. All members of the student council participated in this prayer service, leading the school in prayer. The singing of Vande maataram marked the commencement of the prayer service as Sister Monica Rozario and the coordinators lit the holy lamp. Prayers were offered for the country and all those who guard her, build her and sacrifice for her. Following the prayer service there was a recitation of Henry Louis Vivian Derozio's poem ‘ To India, my native land'. A vision for India in the enactment 'My country, My dream' had the inspirational women of India's past, Sarojini Naidu and Aruna Asaf Ali alongside the trail-blazing lady scientists Ritu Karidhal and M Vanitha, who headed the recent Chandrayaan mission. Sister Monica addressed the students and teachers exhorting them to live by the words of Rabindranath Tagore as the prayer' Into that Heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake’ rises from the heart. Concluding with the singing of the national anthem, resolve to serve the nation is ever-strengthened.
