Description: On 28th July 2022, Loreto Convent School, Delhi formed its Student Council Body for the session 2022-23 at the Investiture Ceremony held in Mary Ward Auditorium. The Investiture Ceremony is one of the momentous occasions when the school entrusts hope, faith, and the mantle of responsibility to the newly appointed student council. These young leaders were elected through a democratic process. First, the students of classes XI and XII self-nominated themselves for various portfolios. The best of the self-nominated students was then selected by the teachers. This was followed by an online election held on 23rd July 2022. Students of classes IX-XII voted for their preferred candidates. The solemn ceremony was graced by our Principal, Sister Monica, and Senior School Coordinator. The ceremony began with the auspicious lighting of the lamp by Sister Monica and coordinators and a solemn prayer to invoke the almighty’s blessings. Students and teachers offered their prayers to the Lord to seek his blessings and direct the student leaders towards strength, zeal, and the path of righteousness, integrity, and commitment. The solemn rendition of the hymn “Be not dismayed.” praised the Lord Almighty and built hopes in our minds about his innate power to take care of each one of us. Our Principal, Sister Monica Rozario, graciously pinned the badges on the Student Council members and congratulated them for deserving this very important role. It was inspiring to see the student leaders march confidently to take their positions on the stage. Being a Student Council of Loreto Convent is a privilege. So, a motivational video was presented to depict the expected leadership qualities from the newly elected council. The young leaders pledged their commitment with sincerity by donning their respective badges of duties. The newly elected members then took their oath of commitment, to be impartial and honest in discharging their duties and to uphold the values which mark the ethos of the school. Last but not least was the inspiring speech by the Head Girl, Meryl Teressa Anthony, who shared her memorable journey of thirteen golden years of her life behind the pink walls of Loreto Delhi. She expressed her gratitude towards the past Principals, teachers, and School management who have significantly contributed to her holistic development. Sister Monica, in her aspiring speech, focused on the need to empower many more leaders by being goal-oriented. She inspired them to be empathetic, value collaboration and hone interpersonal skills and lead a real life that can positively impact the community. The council was also encouraged to walk on the path of righteousness, integrity, and commitment. Inspired by Sister’s speech, the student gathering applauded the new cabinet members and promised to work along with their new leaders. The zeal of the council was reflected in their confidence and dedication to execute their work. The ceremony concluded with the Loreto Chorus. The program was a memorable occasion for the young leaders as they looked forward to a new and enriching academic session.
