Description: Like every year, this year also the students of Junior school celebrated Independence Day on the 10th of August 2022 themed, My India, My Pride. The celebration symbolized the freedom we have achieved through independence and to pay homage and gratitude to the freedom fighters who stood against injustice and cruelty of the Britishers imposed on the Indians during the time they ruled our country. The program commenced with a Prayer Service conducted by the students of Class 5 for the well being of our citizens and leaders, our Principal Sr. Monica, teachers, nonteaching staff, and students and for strengthening the unity, harmony, and peace among the citizens. The Prayer service was followed by the lighting of the lamp by Sister Monica, Sister Baishakhi and the coordinators Mrs. Risa Joseph, Mrs. Kanchan Bage, and Mrs Michelle Domingo. Students from classes 3, 4, and 5 performed a medley of patriotic songs. To symbolize, signify and demonstrate ‘INCREDIBLE INDIA’, students of class 1 were dressed as national symbols. Students of Class 2 recited the poem, Hum bachche hain Hindustan ke, and India our pride. Students of class 3 performed folk dance of the states of Kerala, Assam, Jammu, and Kashmir, and Gujarat portraying the diverse cultures of India. To show the importance of the freedom struggle, students of Class 4 performed a nukkad Natak on Azadi ki Kahani. This was followed by a quiz competition Conducted by the students of class 5. It was conducted in such a manner that the students of all classes got a chance to answer. The students of class prep came to the stage and waved Indian flags and chanted Jai Hind and Vande Matram to mark the end of the performances. Sister Monica addressed the gathering and highly appreciated the efforts put in by the students and the teachers. She gave the message of peace and harmony and the rightful use of freedom. She also talked about the values that every student should nurture to inculcate Patriotism and social responsibility. The national anthem was sung and the program was concluded with the students reciting it aloud the slogans, Jai Hind and Vande Mataram.
