Description: One Billion Rising is a global movement, founded by Eve Ensler, to end rape and sexual violence against women. It was started in 2012. The "billion" refers to the UN statistic that one in three women will be raped or beaten in her lifetime. This year's campaign will escalate the collective actions of activists worldwide, and amplify their call for systematic changes towards ending violence against women and children once and for all. Women will risk their lives to dance and express their resistance.
Class 9-A conducted a special assembly on this occasion to make the students aware of this movement and to recognize the efforts of the activists fighting against the oppression of women. The assembly was attended by the students and teachers of guest schools that participated in the JPIC MUN. After the solemn prayer service, the students of Class 8 broke into a flash mob and danced on the stage. They were later joined by all the students and teachers.
Thereafter the principal, Sr. Archana addressed the students and urged them to aware of the problems of other women and work for their betterment, like the foundress the venerable Mary Ward.
